Porsche 917 – Legends of Le Mans
Oil & Acrylic on Canvas
200x70 cm
This large-scale painting captures two of the most iconic race cars in Porsche history — both dressed in the unforgettable Martini Racing livery.
In the foreground is the Porsche 917 LH (#21), the long-tail version built for top speed on the Mulsanne Straight. Driven by Vic Elford and Gérard Larrousse, it stunned spectators at the 1971 Le Mans 24 Hours with its aerodynamic elegance and raw power. Though it didn’t finish the race, it remains a symbol of bold innovation.
Behind it, the victorious Porsche 917 K (#22) – short-tail configuration – driven by Gijs van Lennep and Helmut Marko, who claimed 1st place at Le Mans 1971 and set a distance record (5,335.313 km) that stood for nearly 40 years.
This work pays tribute to Porsche’s engineering mastery and the golden age of endurance racing. A celebration of motion, speed, and history.
